All the female candidates fielded by the Congress and the BJP won the Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh.
The BJP fielded four and the Congress two and all of them came up trumps.
BJP candidate Sushma Swaraj defeated Samajwadi Party’s Munnawar Salim in Vidisha, Yashodhara Raje Scindia humbled Ashok Singh (Congress) in Gwalior, Jyoti Dhurve defeated Ojharam Ivne of the Congress in Betul and Sumitra Mahajan, who retained the Indore seat for the seventh time in a row defeated Satya Narayan Patel of the Congress.
The Congress, fielded only two women candidates and both emerged victorious.
Rahesh Nandidi Singh defeated Narendra Maravi from Shahdol constituency, while Meenakshi Natrajan humbled BJP’s veteran Laxmi Narayan Pandey in Mandsaur. Ms. Swaraj won by a margin of over three lakh votes, which is the highest in Madhya Pradesh.
